Every day, the American Red Cross helps people in emergencies . . . whether it's half a million disaster victims or one sick child who needs blood.  Our vital work is made possible by people like you, who learn how good it can feel to lend a helping hand. Red Cross "everyday heroes" come from all walks of life. They're all ages. Everyone has something special to offer . . . including you.

You're needed by the Red Cross. Right now.

Too busy? Your local Red Cross can work with you to provide rewarding experiences, whatever your schedule.
Think you don't have any skills to offer? You'd be surprised. And, if you need training, we'll provide it.

Finger Lakes volunteers are currently needed in these areas:

  • Meals on Wheels:  Volunteers needed to deliver hot nutritious meals to north Seneca County seniors.

  • Blood Mobile Worker: Volunteers greet and register blood donors.

  • Preparedness Educators: Using a wide variety of Red Cross preparedness programs, educate the public - people of all ages - at community events, in schools and day care centers, service clubs, workplace, and more.

  • Community Services Caseworker: Screen, complete Project Share applications, and make referrals. Casework can be done by phone and email.

Red Cross volunteers work directly with people, serve on boards of directors, serve as managers, advisors, and provide behind the scenes support.

How can you get started as a volunteer? First, review our online orientation to the American Red Cross which includes an overview of our history, mission, values, key services, organization structure, our commitments and other valuable information to give you background knowledge and understanding of the organization. Then fill out our volunteer application and mail it to our office.

Be a Red Cross volunteer! Helping others feels good, and helps you feel good about yourself. We can work with you to provide rewarding experiences, opportunities to utilize your talents, or provide training to help you serve your community.
