American Red Cross in the Finger Lakes
- 2nd Annual Crossing the County

SENECA FALLS – Looking for something fun to do this summer? Why not try visiting all of the county’s parks, and helping your community at the same time.

American Red Cross in the Finger Lakes announces the second annual Crossing the County treasure hunt.  This year’s event challenges teams to find more than 20 parks in Seneca County. The contest runs from July 23 to August 2.

Teams can register and receive a booklet of clues for $25 for a friends and family team and $150 for businesses. Businesses at the $150 sponsor level also receive an ad in the clues booklet and publicity on signs at park locations. Teams are challenged to dress in costumes and take creative pictures at each location then arrange the pictures on a poster to compete for prizes.

“It was the most fun we’ve had in a long time,” said Nancy Stoughtenger, who was a member of the Waterloo Rotary team last year. “We drove all over the county, and really had a blast. It was fun thinking up the costumes for each picture and even more fun making our poster.”

“Our family had a wonderful time,” said Julie Bellone, who led a friends and family team. “The kids researched the locations on the Internet and then had a ball discovering each site and posing for creative pictures.”

Proceeds from the event help support local Red Cross disaster relief and preparedness activities.
